Role Summary/Purpose: Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for structural design and analysis of superconducting magnets and gradients for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). This role provides support to GE Healthcare's New and Current Product programs and Variable Cost Productivity Programs. Participate in all phases of the product development life cycle from concept and specification generation to production ramp up, optimizing functionality, manufacturability, reliability, serviceability and cost.
Essential Responsibilities:
: Mechanical design and analysis of superconducting magnets and components used in MRI systems with emphasis on
: Mechanical Component design and stress analysis under static, dynamic and cryogenic thermal loads
: Component structural design and analysis at room, elevated and cryogenic temperatures
: Mechanics of Material and Fatigue Analysis (analytical and experimental)
: Design and analysis for natural frequency and Modal and forced response analysis and hands on experimental verification testing
: Design verification and implementation activities by analysis, prototype build and test
: Leading design visualization efforts with 3D CAD models and essential component and assembly details to explore multiple design options
: Thermal stress analysis using temperature dependent properties
: Conducting analysis of installed base and new product reliability using FMEA, Weibull Analysis and DFR tools
: Reliability analysis of components and systems and Design for Reliability
: Installed Base data analysis and reduction. Lead resolution of issues relating to Installed Base Systems
: Preparation/presentation of design analysis reports and part/assembly drawing reviews
: Develop product, component test and purchase specifications
: Design leadership of productivity projects (both product cost and life cycle cost reduction)
: Coordinate cross:functional design, analysis and testing.
: Provide creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues from both factory and field
: Maintain and develop competence required for the job

: Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
: Complete all planned Quality and Compliance training within the defined deadlines

Qualifications/Requirements:
: Bachelor of Science or Engineering in Mechanical or Related Engineering
: Engineering experience: 3:5 years (in superconducting MRI magnet preferred)
: Hands on hardware experience with mechanical systems and components
